Solmat

We know what it's like to chuck as little in the 4WD as possible and head off for a weekend, but it's never that simple.  In our case, there's mum and dad, 4 kids, an Aussie Shepherd, a rooftop tent, a quick up tent for 4, an 80l fridge, sleeping gear, minimal food and cooking gear, some clean undies and not much room for anything else. 

So you can imagine our delight when we first came across something called a solar mat.  Compact and light, they can still put enought amps into the battery to get us off the grid.  We loved the idea.

Like so many other 4wd accessories, these solar mats can be pretty expensive, so we decided to source some ourselves.  We had seen the camo design and loved that, so that was a tick.  We wanted the best of the best when it came to solar collecting, so it had to be Sunpower Solar Cells.  We wanted a large enough pocket to keep the lead and controller in and we wanted it to be able to be pegged down, tied down, stood up, laid flat, rested over a car or caravan - it had to be flexible.

After months of sourcing and testing we have come up with a product that we are really proud of.  The Solmat120.

We also wanted to offer something to our customers that no one else could offer - a thumping big Solmat that outperformed all others on the market.  The Solmat200.

Solmat120

Available in Camo or Black and featuring 6 20w Sunpower Solar Panels, it weighs in under 3kg.  Add the 5m heavy duty sheathed cable and the MPPT controller and it's still under 5kg.  The 10a MCV10 mppt Charge Controller is the smartest 10a Solar Controller available today.  It acts like a smart battery charger, knowing when to charge hard or soft, recognising when the sun is behind cloud and working harder and identifying when the sun has gone down so as no discharge will occur overnight.  The MCV10 can also create its own energy, allowing a third Anderson Plug connection to run LED lights etc straight from the controller, saving your battery from further drain.  Yep, the MCV10 stores energy itself.  Smart.

Solmat200

Sometimes you need more than 7amps peak per hour - and that's where the Solmat200 comes into its own.  Still light at under 5kgs, and still compact, this solar panel can charge at up to 14 amps in perfect conditions and will happily run along at 12 -13 amps on a cool sunny day.

Again available in Camo or Black and featuring 5 40w Sunpower Solar Panels, the Solmat200 is packaged up with a 5m heavy duty lead of 6mm twin sheathed auto cable, a 20a MCV20 MPPT charge controller that operates identically to the 10a charge controller, and a bonus 150a Watt Meter that allows you to monitor your solar panel's performance, your battery volts, your watts being generated and over time an average of each.  Think about it - we wouldn't give away a free watt meter to monitor your equipment if we didn't have 100% faith in the results you are going to get. 

Both of the Solmats have been tested thoroughly by us - not just the sample units, EVERY unit we get is tested prior to us selling it.  That's why there is a 12 month warranty on all wired components and 5 years on the solar panels.
